It was a huge 5 days of swimming in Adelaide as the “Battle from the Blocks” concluded with the 2022 Australian Swimming Championships from 18-22 May.

With World Championships and Commonwealth Games team selection up for grabs, we saw some outstanding swimming and plenty of memorable moments at the Championships.

It was certainly memorable for Samuel Williamson. The Melbourne Vicentre swimmer won Gold in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke (27.05) and Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke (1:00.52). His performance rewarded with a spot on the Australian Dolphins Team to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

Western Melbourne Propulsion’s Adam Selwood made history when he claimed Bronze in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke (2:13.68), securing the club’s best ever placing at an Australian Championships. He went up against world record pace with Zac Stubblety-Cook getting the Gold in the fastest time ever.

In the relay events Nunawading Swimming Club showed their strength, with Gold medals in the Women’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay and 4 x 100m Medley Relay events. They also took home Silver in the Mixed 4 x 100m Medley Relay and Bronze in the Women’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay and Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relays.

And it was a huge performance from Surrey Park in the Women’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay, the team digging deep to finish in 3rd place and take home the Bronze with their time 4:19.58.

Congratulations to all our swimmers, coaches and clubs on their fantastic results.
