The ‘Battle from the Blocks’ began with the 2022 Australian Para Swimming Championships in Adelaide from 9-12 April.

Over four huge days of competition we saw some outstanding swimming and impressive results from our Victorian athletes.

Geelong Swimming Club’s Dylan Logan made a name for himself at the Championships. The rising star claiming Gold on the first night of finals in the Men’s 50m Butterfly (25.82). He backed it up on the third night with a powerful performance in the Men’s 50m Backstroke Final, claiming his second Australian title in a time of 27.85.

The Women’s 100m Freestyle Final had us on the edge of our seats with three Paralympians battling it out for the title. In an incredible finish, Melbourne Vicentre’s Ashleigh McConnell claimed Bronze, hitting the wall at 1:04.24, just behind Lakeisha Patterson (1:04.14) and former Victorian Emily Beecroft (1:04.10).

It was another classic head to head in the Men’s 150m IM between two para swimming icons, Ahmed Kelly (EC Waves) and best mate Grant Patterson. Ahmed came out on top, finishing in 3:05.80 to claim the title.

Tim Disken (PLC Aquatic) looked good in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke. The dual Paralympian securing Bronze with his time 1:12.45. He also finished 6th in the Men’s 50m Freestyle.
