Get ready for Swim League!

It’s fast, it’s furious and above all else it’s fun! Swimming Victoria is excited to bring Swim League to Victoria!

Swim League, which has been successfully running in NSW since 2019, is a team-based competition where two swimming teams are pitted against each other in a match that takes place in less than 60 minutes.

There are no qualifying times and no official timing. Instead, swimmers race head to head to score points for their team. Whoever has the most points at the end of the match is declared the winner. It’s a fun and innovative spin on traditional competition.

Sunraysia swimmers got the first taste of Swim League on Sunday 26 March at Mildura Waves Aquatic and Leisure Centre. After a 25 minute warm up, 1 hour of exciting racing took place with each swimmer competing in 3-5 events across the fast paced competition.

It was a battle between the Grizzlies and the Orcas with the Grizzlies proving too strong on the day, winning by 60 points and going undefeated in the relay events.

Here’s what some of our participants had to say…

“It is a fun alternative to a predominantly individual sport. It encourages relationship building with swimmers from outside of their main club.”

“It was fantastic that the swimmers were mixed and the smaller club participants felt the larger team camaraderie.”

“As a parent, it was fun and exciting to watch and it had a great atmosphere and a real team environment.”
