Swimming Victoria is saddened to learn of the passing of devoted technical official, Elizabeth Hanley. SV and the wider swimming community extends its sincere condolences to Elizabeth’s family.
Liz became involved with the sport when her son Aiden started swimming at Ringwood Swimming Club in 2010. It wasn’t long before she wanted to become more involved in her son’s sport and started timekeeping at club, district and Swimming Victoria meets.
Since then, she has spent many weekends at the pool officiating and gaining further experience to work in various positions on pool deck. Through her dedication and hard work Liz has come up through the ranks and recently received her accreditation as a qualified Starter.
She will be remembered by many in our sport as a quiet achiever who was always willing to put in, she loved swimming and those involved in it.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday 21 June at Le Pines Lilydale, Liz's son Aiden has extended an invitation to anyone who knew Liz or would like to attend.
