Swimming Victoria (SV) has established a Working Group to review the entity (clubs and districts) affiliation processes.

In recent seasons, we’ve noticed some challenges with the current process which make it difficult for us to effectively register and service our clubs and districts. For instance, incomplete registrations and lack of contact details have prevented us from contacting some entities all year.

The entity affiliation process helps us make sure that we have current and correct information for all our clubs and districts. We need to ensure that our entities have registered members and that those members are recorded accurately with SV. It is also essential that our clubs have qualified coaches coaching and that we know which pool they are based at so we can be sure that they are placed in the correct district.

A combination of representatives from country and metro clubs and districts have joined members of SV staff and Board to form the Membership Review Working Group:

  • Don Alchin – Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association
  • Emy Simsic – Geelong Swimming Club
  • Corinne Caramia - Western Melbourne Propulsion
  • Nic Campbell – Camberwell Grammar Aquatic
  • Jason Hellwig, Jacqueline Harrod, Clare Burton – SV Staff
  • Paul Malcolm – SV Board

The group is reviewing the requirements and processes for registration of new entities and in doing so also considering if requirements and processes for re-registration of existing entities should be established.

They will make recommendations to the Board of Swimming Victoria on the following:

  • The requirements of new entities, consistent with the obligations of Members (Clause 7)
  • If the registration process should change
  • Whether the process should be different for country and metro entities
  • Should clubs have to demonstrate compliance, and if so, what should the process be
  • Any changes to the Swimming Victoria By-laws.

The working group are leading the discussion and suggestions with support from SV and will provide a draft framework for consultation and feedback from the wider swimming community before delivering a report to the Board by December 2022. Watch this space!
