Swim Australia Teacher - Competitive Swimming

The SAT-CS (Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Swimming) course is the beginning of the pathway to become an accredited Swimming Coach in Victoria, as the coach is qualified to deliver basic training sessions that develop the swimming technique of novice and junior swimmers – this is generally defined as swimmers 12-years and under who are still acquiring the skills needed to compete successfully.  This course is aimed at people who are interested in teaching junior swimmers who are in the early stages of competitive swimming development and/or assist a suitably qualified and licensed coach in the delivery of competitive programs for age groups (i.e. 13-18 years) and adult swimmers (training squads).

Swimming Victoria delivers education courses and professional development to the swimming community within a structured Coach Accreditation Pathway. In some circumstances when a coaches accreditation expires, he/she can apply for a Recognition of Current Competency to gain their accreditation. This process involves conducting a self-assessment against the learning outcomes within each unit of the course where a candidates will be required to show evidence that they are competent in these units. When submitting for RCC an appendix of evidence must be clearly labelled and organised to show why each piece of evidence proves competency in a certain unit. An administration fee of $130.00 applies to all Bronze Licence or Silver Licence RCC applications.

Working With Children Check

All Coaches must have a Working With Children Check (WWCC) to gain their accreditation. The WWCC creates a mandatory minimum checking standard across Victoria. The WWCC helps to keep children safe by preventing those who pose a risk to the safety of children from working with them, in either paid or volunteer work.

Your WWCC will expire every 5 years. Please make sure your details are up to date so you know when to renew by visiting https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/wwccu
