Indigenous Swimming Program
With support from Sport & Recreation Victoria (SRV) the 20116/17 Swimming Victoria (SV) Indigenous Swimming Program (ISP) aims to integrate members of the Indigenous Community into swimming programs across Metro and Regional Victoria, and provide a structured pathway into Club swimming.
Participants are exposed to participation programs to increase water safety knowledge, confidence and skills, in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Participants receive active benefits such as survival skills and basic technique development, and a positive delivery of the water safety message. Swimming Victoria are entering into the 14th year of the Annual ASRP.
The adaptive ASRP delivery model allows regions to determine the type of participation program that will be successful and sustainable, allowing for ownership and coordination of the program how best they see fit, in line with the relationships they have in place with the local Indigenous Community, Facilities, Council and local Swimming Clubs.
