It was an exciting start to the long course championship season with the 2023 Victorian Sprint Championships kicking things off from 14-15 January.
1482 swimmers from 89 clubs took to MSAC for 2 days of fast paced sprint action. We saw some fantastic swimming across the competition, including two new records.
MLC Aquatic’s Lily Koch was unstoppable in the Girls 14 Years 50m Breaststroke with her time of 33.05 setting a new Victorian Record. She also had victories in the Girls 14 Years 50m Butterfly (28.50) and the Girls 14 Years 50m Backstroke (30.38).
As always, the relay events were hotly contested. In the Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay the team from Traralgon broke the Victorian Country Record, hitting the wall at 1:42.92 and claiming Silver behind Nunawading (1:41.56).
These Championships saw the unveiling of our newly designed medals which was a huge hit amongst the swimmers and added to the excitement on the dais.
