Swimming Victoria is pleased to announce that Andrew Scott and Shayne Reese OAM will be joining the Board as Directors.

Andrew will fill the casual vacancy created by Damian Van de Berg’s retirement earlier this year. Andrew will remain in that position for the remainder of Damian’s term of appointment which will end at the 2019 AGM. Shayne is an appointed director to replace Robyn Miller, who has reached her maximum term following the adoption of the new Constitution.  Their terms commence with immediate effect, following an extensive process conducted by the Nominations and Remuneration Committee and Board.

Andrew brings to the Board a combination of forty years experience as a lawyer with an emphasis on business and sports law, numerous previous other board positions and a deep interest in all things sport. He is currently a Director of YMCA Victoria, a tribunal chair for Basketball Victoria and a legal consultant to the Southern Football Netball League.

His history includes roles as President of the Law Institute of Victoria, a Director of Netball Australia and many years providing legal advice to the AFL Players' Association and North Melbourne Kangaroos.

As a swimmer he has completed well over one hundred open water swims. He describes himself as a “slow swimmer who rapidly continues to lose even more speed.”

Shayne is no stranger to the swimming community, having represented the Australian Dolphins Swim Team from 2004-2009.  She is an Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champion and record holder. She is also a Life Member of Swimming Victoria.

A Ballarat local, Shayne retired from professional sport in 2010 and launched her learn to swim business, Shayne Reese Swimming. The purpose-built facility now provides over 2000 lessons a week to infants, pre-schoolers and school age children across Ballarat and the surrounding area. She dedicates her life to educating students, staff and parents on the fundamentals of swimming and water safety.

We are delighted to welcome Andrew and Shayne to the Swimming Victoria Board and look forward to supporting their contribution to the organisation.
