Swimming Victoria is excited to welcome swimmers, parents, coaches and technical officials back to the pool for a number of competitions to be held in early 2022.

We have made several modifications to the competition schedule and event offerings, taking into account the amount of time a majority of swimmers were unable to train in the later months of 2021.

The following Event Listings & Qualifying Times are now available on the SV website.

We are also excited to announce that we will be running a December Sprint Short Course Competition on 18-19 December 2021. Events in this meet will include 50s and 100s of each stroke and a 200IM, with a maximum number of 5 entries per swimmer. Further information will be available soon. All other February and March competition information will be available in early December.

Please be aware of the following points regarding our upcoming competitions:

Event Listings & Qualifying Times

  • Event listings and qualifying times have remained relatively unchanged from those implemented under similar conditions in 2021.
  • Swimming Victoria will update the Victorian qualifying times for the 2022/23 competition season to align with the newly released qualifying times for the Australian Age Championships.

Competition Entries

  • Entries for competitions will open approximately 6 weeks prior to each competition. This ensures we have the most up-to-date information possible should any COVID regulations or rules change prior to an event.
  • Entries for competitions will close on the Monday the week of each competition. Due to this quick turnaround time, late entries will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.

Country LC Championships

  • The Country LC program is reverting back to heats and finals after an adjusted program in 2021. It is believed that with easing restrictions this program structure will once again be achievable.

Metro LC Championships

  • The Metro LC program will be conducted as timed finals across three days in January 2022. The timed final format is considered the most appropriate considering the long periods of time metropolitan swimmers have had away from the pool in 2021. This will also enable swimmers to get times across a wider range of events and distances than would be possible if the meet was conducted with a heats and finals format. The format will also enable swimmers to enjoy returning to high level competition with a range of distances available and a relay only session to boost atmosphere and fun.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for further competition updates. We look forward to seeing you back in the pool in 2022!
