Victorian swimming fans are in for a treat with community broadcaster C31 to show all the action from the 2019 Optus Victorian Open Championships and the World Para Swimming World Series.

C31 will live stream all races from the competitions, which will be held concurrently from 15 – 17 February, while the finals will also be shown on its free-to-air channel.

The World Para Swimming World Series, being held in Oceania for the first time, will bring some of the best swimmers from around Australia and the world to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Racing of this caliber will provide valuable experience to the Australians competitors in the lead up to the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships and the 2020 Paralympic Games.

The competition’s third – and longest - season will start in Melbourne, with events to be held in eight countries from February to June. Netherlands and Singapore will join Australia as first-time hosts.

Brazil's Daniel Dias won the men’s title in 2017 and 2018, while Great Britain’s Louise Fiddes was last year’s women’s champion.

The athletes’ results at each event are calculated using a standardised points system that ensures the men’s and women’s winners will be the best performing athletes throughout the series.
