What a night for swimming at the Victorian Sport Awards! With a record number of Victorian finalists in various categories, three of our finest went one better and took home individual ‘gold’ at the Victorian Sport Awards held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre last night.

The Awards, which recognise home grown sporting heroes, officials, coaches, clubs, administrators and community sport programs in Victoria, are a highlight of the Victorian sporting calendar.

Muriel Aberline from Warrnambool Swimming Club was awarded Community Official of the Year for her dedication to grass roots officiating and developing officials. This season was a big year for Muriel. She also won the Bill Slade Trophy for Technical Official of the Year at the Swimming Victoria Awards.

Swimming Victoria Life Member, Sandy Frame, took out the Victorian Community Sport Award which recognises a member of the Victorian sporting community who has made a positive influence on the opportunities and experiences available to others over a long period of time.

It was a special night for the Frame family with Linley Frame also being awarded the Victorian Masters Sport Award. In 2017 Linley travelled to Budapest for the Masters World Championships where she won three Gold medals and broke a world record and two championship records.

And to round out the Victorian winners, Masters swimming club, Malvern Marlins was awarded the Victorian Community Sporting club of the Year for its commitment to encourage and support of participation in swimming.

Congratulations to Muriel, Sandy, Linley and the Malvern Marlins. We are extremely proud of all our award winners and finalists.
