Swimming Victoria (SV) is saddened to learn of the recent passing of former CEO of Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) and State Sports Centres Trust (SSCT), Simon Weatherill.
Simon was appointed CEO of MSAC in 1995, a role he held for 18 years. He was responsible for developing the facility from its creation to one of the largest and most successful aquatic, recreation and sports facilities in the world, and worked closely with SV to bring World Swimming Championships and FINA World Cups to Melbourne.
Simon was passionate about swimming both in and out of the office and was a regular sight at bayside competitions.
SV and the wider swimming community extends its sincere condolences to Simon’s family.
