Over the Australia Day weekend, clubs from around Victoria came together at Aquazone in Warrnambool for the 2020 Victorian Country Championships. During the three days of competition we saw amazing performances from some of Victoria’s best country swimmers.
As always, the atmosphere at the Championships was electric and the team spirit was off the charts. It was a battle both in and out of the pool with a ‘chant off’ erupting between the clubs. It was hard to beat the locals, with Warrnambool Swimming Club producing one of the biggest (and loudest!) chants we’ve seen!
The Traralgon Swimming Club continued its dominance of the Championships, once again claiming the Alan Monaghan Shield for the highest aggregate point score for all events. Traralgon finished with a combined aggregate point score of 2361 ahead of Geelong (1590), Ballarat Gold (1244) and Bendigo East (881) with home team Warrnambool (722) rounding out the top five clubs.
