On Night 1 our multi-class athletes opened the 2024 Australian Age Championships on the Gold Coast with composure and class, securing 34 finals appearances, across 21 events, from 16 talented youngsters.

Country talent was on display as 12 year old Eli Kerr from Warrnambool secured the first medal of the Championships in the Boys 12-13 years 100m Freestyle, securing bronze! He then went on to claim silver in the 100m Backstroke just 2 events later.

The medals didn’t stop there, with Imogen Nolen from Ivanhoe Swim dropping a whole second off her heat swim time in the Girls 16-18 years 50 Breaststroke and claiming a silver.

Rounding out our medal tally for the evening young gun Hamish Keenan from Western Melbourne Propulsion nabbed a swift GOLD in the Boys 14-15 years 50m Butterfly and then a repeat performance with GOLD in the Boys 14-15 years 200m Individual Medley.

Victorian Medal Tally: 2 Gold, 2 Silver & 1 Bronze.
