For the first time since 2019, Swimming Victoria is excited to announce a Victorian Touring Team to compete at the 2023 Tri Series Meet from 27-29 September in New Zealand.
16 athletes from our Flippers Squad, 2 athletes from our Abilities Squad and 4 coaches will go up against teams from New Zealand, Oceania and Western Australia, competing in a series of 5 race meets (matches) over 3 days of competition. Bonus points will be awarded to athletes for executing racing skills under pressure, for example 6 dolphin kicks off the wall in a 100 freestyle event.
Swimming Victoria’s Performance Pathways Manager, Nic Baker is excited to see the return of an international touring team for Victoria. “This meet is another step in their development towards Australian representation, it provides invaluable travelling and competition experience to these young swimmers as well as the coaches” Baker said.
The team will come together at the Victorian Open Short Course Championships on Saturday 19 August, where they will be presented with their team gear.
