After a huge nine days of racing, the action at the Australian Age Championships has wrapped up and our Victorian athletes have come home with an impressive medal tally of 85, including 20 Gold, 32 Silver and 33 Bronze.

Our para athletes started off strong in the MC events with Eli Kerr from Warrnambool bursting onto the scene in his Nationals debut. The 12 year old secured Victoria’s first medal of the Championships in the Boys 12-13 Years 100m Freestyle with a Bronze. He went on to claim Silver in the 100m Backstroke just 2 events later and backed it up the next day with another Bronze in the Boys 12-13 Years 100m Butterfly with a Bronze.

Western Melbourne Propulsion’s Hamish Keenan was in fine form, he claimed Gold in the Boys 14-15 Years 50m Butterfly and added two Silver medals to his haul in the Boys 14-15 Years 50m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly.

Everything Arika Erdenko (Surrey Park) touched turned to gold. She was a dominant force in the Girls 13 Years distance events, with victories in the 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle events and the 400m IM.

It was a similar story for Caulfield Aquatic’s Nicholas Stoupas, the 16 year old took out the trifecta in the 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke events.

Off the back of some impressive results at the recent Victorian Championships, Henry Allan from Bendigo East continued his great run with another trifecta in the Boys 15 Years 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke events. He also claimed a Bronze medal in the Boys 15 Years 50m Freestyle.

Another top performer was Ciara Jeffs (Yarra Plenty Waves). She took home an incredible 7 medals, including 2 Gold in the Girls 13 Years 100m and 200m Backstroke as well as 5 Silver medals, proving she’ll be one to watch in years to come!

Congratulations to all our medallists and their coaches:
