The short course action wrapped up at the 2023 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships from 13-16 September at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

It was a strong campaign from our Victorian athletes with a medal tally of 30, including 7 Gold, 14 Silver and 9 Bronze. Not only did we see some great swimming, the comradery amongst the Victorian athletes and coaches was second to none.

Melbourne Vicentre’s Tara Kinder was a top performer. She swam a personal best time of 1:06.78 to claim Gold in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke. She also took home 2 Silver medals in the Women’s 50m Breaststroke and 200m IM. On the final night she backed it up with another PB and Gold in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke, hitting the wall at 2:21.69.

Night 2 was a big one for Ahmed Kelly (Yarra Plenty Waves). He continued his fine form with a Silver medal in the Men’s 50m Freestyle MC. Later in the night he went one better in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke MC, securing Gold in a time of 52.38. He also claimed Silver in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke MC.

It was a clean streak for Victoria in the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle with Nunawading, MLC Aquatic and Yarra Plenty Waves going first, second and third. Go Vics!
