2023 Junior District Competition - Metro East
Written by: Swimming Victoria

It was a battle of the districts on Saturday 28 October for the 2023 Junior District Competition at MSAC. Previously held across two days, this was the first time both Metro and Country Competitions were held on the same day.

Aimed at 8–11-year-olds, for many of our young swimmers it was their first time competing at MSAC – an exciting milestone for up and coming swimmers!

The action kicked off with the Metro Competition in the morning session with 392 swimmers taking to the pool. Metro East was the district to beat, finishing top of the table with 2027 points to take out the Edna Olsen Trophy. They were followed by Metro South (1538), Metro West (717) and Metro North (486).

In the afternoon 264 swimmers representing 7 country districts competed for the Gippsland Trophy, awarded to the district scoring the highest aggregate points. Gippsland District proved too strong for the competition finishing with 1657 points, ahead of Central District (850) and Ovens and Murray (701).

Well done to all our swimmers, coaches and districts on a fantastic day of swimming!
