IMPORTANT CHANGES TO AGE SC PROGRAM

24 August 2018
Swimming Victoria important update
Written by: Swimming Victoria

As many of you know this years’ Age SC championships has received an unexpectedly high level of entries resulting in extremely long session times.  On review we considered that this beyond what could be considered reasonable for swimmers, coaches, officials and spectators.  For that reason we have decided to amend the program by moving the relay events to a separate session at our Open SC championships on 15-16 September 2018. Anyone who is unable to swim a relay that weekend should contact the SV office.

By making this change we anticipate the vast majority of swimmers and spectators will be able to leave the venue much earlier in the morning sessions. It will also provide a longer changeover between sessions.

Last year we staged the championships in a Heats and Finals format and we used two pools. However, with the Timed Finals format this year, implementing a second pool now is impractical. This would require a total restructure of the program resulting in delay and uncertainty. It would also create unreasonably short time frames between events for some swimmers. We believe it is important to keep the format and structure of the meet in line with our advertised program as much as possible.

An amended session report will be published later today.
