The 2023 Victorian Metropolitan LC Championships capped off a busy month of swimming in January.

We saw a significant increase in numbers at this year’s event with over 1000 athletes from 48 metro clubs coming together to compete in 3 days of timed finals from 27-29 January.

Nunawading’s Oscar Magalotti was a top performer in the Boy’s 11 & Under events. The young swimmer took home an incredible 6 Gold medals and 1 Silver. Nunawading teammate, Xiandi Chua was also impressive, she claimed 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the Women’s 16 & Over events.

Sibling rivalry was on display in the Multi Class events with James and Dylan Logan from Melbourne Swimming Club going head-to-head in multiple events. Older brother Dylan proved too strong in the Men’s MC 100m and 50m Backstroke events, finishing ahead of 16-year-old James to take the victories.

The all-relay final session on day 3 made for an exciting end to the Championships. The swimmers put on a great display of teamwork and comradery which was the perfect finale to 3 big days of competition.

Well done to all swimmers, coaches, and clubs and a huge thank you to our wonderful technical officials for a fantastic event!
