Metro Swimmers Sizzle at MSAC

Close to 1200 swimmers from 49 metro clubs took to the pool at MSAC for the 2024 Victorian Metropolitan Championships from 9-11 March, in some hot Melbourne conditions.

The Championships saw some changes this year, the most significant being the introduction of heats and finals to provide ideal preparation in the lead up to Nationals. It was also the first time the Championships has been held in March since covid, the long weekend providing the perfect opportunity for a big 3 days of racing.

In another first, we were thrilled to extend our partnership with Kayo Freebies to stream the Championships, making it more accessible than ever. Our commentary team was once again in fine form, with a new face joining some regulars on the mic to keep us informed and bringing viewers even closer to the action.

The standout performances were recognised with ‘Swimmer of the Meet’ Awards. Congratulations to the following swimmers:

Swimmer of the Meet – Man
Awarded to the Victorian Man scoring the highest aggregate points over all boys’ and men’s events.

  • Harry McCraw – Melbourne Swimming Club

Swimmer of the Meet – Woman
Awarded to the Victorian Women scoring the highest aggregate points over all girls’ and women’s events.

  • Zoe Cleminson – Melbourne Swimming Club

Para Swimmer of the Meet – Man
Award to the Victorian Man who achieves the highest aggregate point score within the multi-class events.

  • Kelvin Tran – Oasis Otters

Para Swimmer of the Meet – Woman
Award to the Victorian Woman who achieves the highest aggregate point score within the multi-class events.

  • Grace Rider – Ivanhoe Swim

Surrey Park Swimming Club took out the Club of the Meet Trophy for scoring the highest aggregate points with 2,171. They finished ahead of MLC Aquatic and Nunawading Swimming Club. View the team points here.
