It was a bumper day of swimming on Saturday 14 October when our long course season officially kicked off with the Pho3nix JX LC Start Hit-Out.

It was a full house with 646 swimmers from 76 clubs taking to the pool at MSAC for two big sessions of racing. First up were our 7-11 year olds in the morning session, followed by our 12-14 year olds in the afternoon. The sessions were split by a clinic, which 116 of our JX qualifiers were excited to take part in.

The clinic was led by Olympians Tamsin Cook and Matt Welsh and 2023 World Championship swimmer, Sam Williamson. They were joined by a host of other Australian representative swimmers who were on deck to work with the young swimmers.

The swimmers had the opportunity to pick the brains of their swimming heroes with a Q&A session, before breaking into form stroke groups, with each group being led by an Aussie swimmer. The groups discussed the importance of skills and great technique prior to a pool session to practice their form stroke drills.

The swimmers came away with some great advice from the Aussie swimmers as well as plenty of autographs and some fantastic memories which will no doubt inspire them as they head into a big summer of swimming!
