After a wet start to the second day of Australian Age Nationals with the rain bucketing down on the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, the Victorians pushed through fatigue to secure 12 finalists across 20 finals appearances.

We began the night with a fun on deck interview with first time National finalist swimmer Molly Griffin (EDA) chatting to our media team about her experiences in finals. Then, in true Gold Coast fashion the clouds parted for our evening of racing, which kicked off with last night's gold medal winner Hamish Keenan (Propulsion) in the 400m freestyle.

We saw plenty of impressive backing up throughout the night, with some solid personal best performances by country boy Lockie Bellion (Traralgon) in the 400m Freestyle then diving straight into the 200m Freestyle in the next event.

Imogen Nolan (Ivanhoe Swim) achieved our first medal for the evening - Imogen Nolan, repeating her performance from the night before to steal a Silver Medal in the Girls 100m Breaststroke, another all time personal best for Imogen puts her in a good position leading into her Able-Bodied 100m Breaststroke swim on Day 3.

The medals continued to roll in for the Vics with Hamish Keenan (Propulsion) finishing second in the 14-15 year Boys 50m Backstroke and adding another Silver in the Boys 14-15 100m Butterfly. We also saw Eli Kerr (Warrnambool) secure some more bling to add to his collection in the 12-13 year Boys 100m Butterfly with a Bronze.

Total Medal Count:

2 Gold, 5 Silver & 2 Bronze.

Awesome efforts from our other finalists for the evening - Dominic Haggard (Melbourne), James Logan (Melbourne), Evie Lee (Geelong), Fionn Ginley (Warrnambool), Cooper Harrington (YPW), Ayla Mcasey (Echuca), Andrew Dinh (Oasis Otters) and Riley Blitz (Geelong).

With just the 50m Freestyle Multi-Class event left for our MC athletes. We congratulate all our MC athletes on their fantastic achievements and wish those racing on Day 3 the best of luck. Go Vics!
