Vic Age Champs relay

It’s almost here! The inaugural Victorian Relay Competition kicks off on Saturday 10 February at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC). With over 500 swimmers making up the 251 teams it’s shaping up to be a great day of competition!

It’s a broad field with swimmers ranging from 7 to 52 years of age. We’ve got teams from Swimming Victoria and Masters clubs, schools and the general public on board and we’re excited to see everyone come together and have a fun day out at MSAC.

Olympian and Melbourne Vicentre Coach, Kenrick Monk has embraced this new event, with 41 Vicentre teams entered, as well as his own “Kenrick Monk Team”. “We’re really excited for the Relay Comp, it gives swimmers a chance to compete in a more relaxed setting and have some fun! It’s a great concept and I’m looking forward to seeing it grow in years to come” said Monk.

Monk’s all-star team will be one to watch, with former National level swimmers Angie Armellini, Marnie Burger and Loyd Townsing joining force with the Olympian.

And don’t forget, the excitement won’t just be in the pool, the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay will make its way through MSAC during the Victorian Relay Competition. Mascot for the Games, Borobi, will be there too, so make sure you come down and be part of this special event!
