Sam shines on final night of Aus Champs

The Australian Open Championships ended on a high with the Vics adding another Gold and 2 Bronze medals to the tally.

After a strong swim in the heats, Sam Williamson (Melbourne Vicentre) qualified fastest in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke. He delivered in the final, taking out the victory with his time 27.16. Fellow Vics Calvin Reed (Western Melbourne Propulsion) and Cameron Jordan (Bendigo East) both hit the wall at 28.36 to finish in joint 6th.

Nunawading’s William Petric was back in action in the Men’s 400m IM, he took out the Bronze and was the first Australian with his time 4:13.55. Melbourne Vicentre’s Marco Soesanto finished in 6th place, with Nunawading’s Jack Gurrie and Evan Chee placing 7th and 9th respectively.

Isabella Boyd (Nunawading) – 6th Women’s 100m Butterfly

In the relay events, Nunawading secured Bronze in the Women’s 4 x100m Medley Relay with Oliva Lefoe, Zoe Deacon, Isabella Boyd and Abbey Kearney making up the team. Surrey Park came in 7th and Nunawading’s B team finished 8th. In the Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Nunawading finished in 4th place, with Western Melbourne Propulsion coming home 10th.
