Stars descend on Melbourne for the Vic Open Champs and Citi Para Swimming World Series

Australia’s most decorated Olympian, Emma McKeon and Olympic Champion and World Record Holder Kaylee McKeown will headline this week’s Victorian Open Championships at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), 23-25 February 2024.

McKeon and McKeown will be joined by a plethora of Australian and international swimming stars, with 20 visiting countries represented. The Championships are one of the major racing opportunities for Olympic hopefuls in the lead up to Australian Championships and Olympic Trials. The event will also play host to the Citi Para Swimming World Series, bringing some of the best para swimmers from around the world to Melbourne.

Fresh from being crowned World Champion in the Men’s 50m Backstroke in Doha, Isaac Cooper will be looking to continue his fine form. Other swimmers to watch are Australian Dolphins Cody Simpson, Lani Pallister, Bowen Gough and Mikayla Smith as well as Paralympians Col Pearse, Tim Hodge and Ahmed Kelly.

The Championships will also showcase some of Victoria’s most talented swimmers including Nunawading’s Isabella Boyd, Evan Chee and William Petric, Surrey Park’s Anthony Boussounis, Cheltenham’s Tommy Lane and Tara Kinder from Melbourne Vicentre.

Entry to the venue is free so make sure you come down to MSAC to see some of the best swimmers in the world as they set their sights on Paris. If you can’t join us, you’ll be able to catch all the action live and free on Kayo Freebies and the Swimming Victoria YouTube Channel for international viewers. Our commentary team will keep you informed and entertained, with special guests and pool deck interviews enhancing the broadcast.
