It was an epic weekend of swimming at the 2024 Victorian Open LC Championships and Citi Para Swimming World Series, with an impressive field including Olympic and Paralympic Champions, Australian Dolphins, international para stars and Victoria’s most talented swimmers putting on a show at MSAC.

Emma McKeon (Griffith University) showed us why she’s Australia’s most successful Olympian. She took out the Women’s 100m Freestyle on night one in a Victorian All comers Record time of 53.00.  McKeon also had victories in the Women’s 100m Butterfly (56.40) and 50m Freestyle (24.68) events. In the Women’s 50m Butterfly she fell just short, claiming Silver behind Japan’s Rikako Ikee.

Griffith teammate Lani Pallister was a dominant force in the Women’s Freestyle events. She won Gold in the 200m (1:56.63), 400m (4:03.03) and 1500m (15:54.52) Freestyle, her strong performances no doubt boosting her confidence on the road to Paris.

Nunawading young gun William Petric was on fire in the IM events. He took out the 400m IM in 4:18.38 and the 200m IM in 2:00.22. He also claimed Silver in the Men’s 200m Butterfly (1:58.41), narrowly out touched by Griffith University’s Bowen Gough.

It was a jam-packed program for Nunawading’s Isabella Boyd. The 18 year old competed in 7 individual events and 5 relays, the hard work paying off in the Women’s 200m IM where she claimed Gold, clocking 2:13.73.

Bendigo East’s Cameron Jordan continued his fine form this summer, setting another 2 new Victorian Country Records in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke (27.93) and 100m Breaststroke (1:00.92). He took home Bronze in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke (1:00.92), an impressive swim against tough competition.

Ballarat Gold’s Sarah Howe was a top performer in the MC events with victories in the Women’s 100m Backstroke MC (1:22.23) and the Women’s 400m Freestyle (5:26.65). She also added two Silver medals to her swag in the Women’s 50m and 100m Freestyle MC events.
