Swimming Victoria (SV) is saddened to learn of the passing of Morwell Swimming Club Head Coach, Geoff Peterson.
Geoff joined Morwell Swimming Club in 1992 and was in the role of Head Coach for 23 years. After a short break, he again took on the position in 2018 for a further six seasons.
Some of Geoff’s greatest memories throughout his time at Morwell included the support members gave to local competition, the versatility of their swimmers in relay events and placing third highest cub overall in the boys points at the 2005 Victorian Country Championships in Albury. He was awarded Life Membership of the Morwell Swimming Club in 2002.
Just last month, Geoff coached at the Victorian Country All Junior Competition at MSAC, his swimmers coming away with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
Geoff’s dedication to coaching was outstanding. He was known for his kind, patient manner and will be truly missed by many on pool deck.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Geoff will be held at LaTrobe Valley Funeral Services Chapel, 437A Princes Drive, Morwell on Friday 26 April at 1:30pm.
