The cohort from Victoria wrapped up their Australian Age Championship campaign, in spectacular fashion under the lights of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

The evening began with Mia Mifsud (EDA) putting on a text book performance in the 200m Butterfly to nab the first medal of the night, a Bronze for 14 year old Girls.

From here, the medals just kept coming with Milo Dressel-de Bruyn (Melbourne) claiming his second Bronze of the meet.

Joshua Witkowski (MLC) timed his swim to perfection in the Boys 16 years 400m IM to overtake athletes in the final 50 metres, securing himself a Bronze medal.

Henry Allan (Bendigo East) finished the trifecta, 50/100/200 charging home for Gold in the Boys 15 years 100m Backstroke.

Campbell Wilson-Moran (Caulfield) showcased great skills, and endurance in the Boys 16 years 200m Backstroke to claim the Silver, and Isabella Osborn (MLC) dropped more time in the Girls 16 years 200m Butterfly to finish with a Bronze.

Our last individual swimmers of the night put on a show in the Girls 13/14 years 1500m freestyle with Lucy Doyle (Nunawading) and Arika Erdenko (Surrey Park) going stroke for stroke for the entire 30 laps, right down to a tight finish onto the wall. Arika finished with Gold for the 13 years Girls, and Lucy the Bronze for 14 year old Girls. Such an incredible effort for our distance queens!

The night ended on a high with four of our State Mixed Medley Relays medalling to close the Championships.

Victoria finished in Silver position for the 15/16 years, and Bronze in the 16/17, 13/14 and the 14/15 year categories.

It was a fitting end to a super enjoyable nine day Championship event.

We look forward to our age group athletes heading home and taking some well earned rest, and turn our attention towards the Australian Open Championships from April 17 - 20th on the Gold Coast.

Medal Tally:

85 Medals: 20 Gold, 32 Silver & 33 Bronze.
